Numerical Weather Prediction and Air Quality Modeling

Odycloud NWP & AQM with added preprocessing apps and support

‘Odycloud Numerical Weather Prediction & Air Quality Modeling with added preprocessing apps and support’ provides a complete package to launch and manage WRF and CMAQ on instances and clusters. WRF is a mesoscopic model used by thousands of users worldwide, and able to generate forecasts for a wide range of atmospheric conditions and resolutions. These forecasts serve for operational functions and research purposes. CMAQ represents state-of-the-art air quality modeling able to forecast concentration of airborne pollutants such as ozone, particulate matters and others.

  • Integration of MPI, netCDF, HDF5, and other tools ensuring optimal performance for tightly-coupled simulations and other parallel processing tasks
  • Implementation of WRF v4.8 and WPS working seamlessly with an Ubuntu O/S and high-performance  environmental apps
  • Implementation of CMAQ v5.5 and scripts to run CMAQ in either instances or clusters
  • Implementation of MCIP, BCON, and ICON to prepare the initial and boundary condition files needed by CMAQ
  • App to download and/or modify meteorological and air quality data in order to generate the initial and boundary conditions

Steps to use the apps

  1. Select the image from your console
  2. Choose an arm-64 instance and launch it like any other Linux instance with a SG
  3. Connect to the instance using SSH via putty. MobaXterm or similar -> Log in using ‘ubuntu’ as the username
  4. Run the apps like in any other system (cloud or in-premises)
  5. Configure your credentials if files need to be transferred to buckets
  6. To use the added apps able to download meteorological and air quality data in an accelerated fashion, move to the /home/ubuntu/DATA and run the app by invoking download.exe.

The user  guide provide more details on these steps and how to use the apps.
